Painting Holidays in Borrowdale Valley, Lake District

The Lake District's spectacular scenery has been the inspiration for many artists over the years, Jane is a locally based Keswick artist who will guide you to her favourite beauty spots to see the real Lakeland. The locations are based close to the hotel and using either the local transport/ ferry and arriving on foot is a great way to get inspired before a days painting.

A typical day will begin about 10am with a walk or ferry ride to our location to sketch and paint. Lunch is taken on site or at one of the many delightful tearooms. The afternoon will be spent completing the mornings work or at a new location finishing the day around 4.30pm. With Indoor facilities, when the weather is not favourable Jane will demonstrate and work through all aspects of painting and painting techniques.Finishing the day with a five course evening meal and coffee in the relaxing lounges.

Staying at The Scafell Hotel within fifteen minutes drive from Keswick with stunning mountain and river views based in the pretty village of Rosthwaite with Eagle Crag and Grange in Borrowdale just down the valley. The recently refurbished hotel offers comfortable lounges, open log fires and a local bar.All bedrooms been en suite making it an ideal location for a relaxing holiday.

Learn to paint watercolours online at www.watercolourcourse.co.uk a unique course that will teach you many secrets and clever techniques.

Course agenda Courses start Monday at 12 noon with a welcome meeting and discussion of painting locations etc followed by an afternoon of painting just a short walk away.

Two full days Tuesday and Wednesday will begin at 10am either using local transport or walking to our first location of the day a few hours spent capturing reflections beside Derwentwater or Borrowdale Valley, the afternoon spent painting either on location or back at the Scafell finishing around 4.30pm.

Thursday starts around 10am painting at a nearby beauty spot and finishing the course about 2pm.

The Weekend Workshops in Keswick,Lake District

This indoor based watercolour workshop is designed for all abilities including beginners. The course is based on small groups who want to develop their painting skills and learn new techniques. Working with the students, Jane will demonstrate and work through a number of subjects to create a finished painting. The course is based at Millbeck Hall within ten minutes from Keswick, with the day starting at 10.30am and finishing around 4.00pm. Accommodation is not included in the course but there are a number of guest houses and hotels within the Keswick area for you to choose from
